    Re: Pre-Hospital Scenarios

I don't have programed scenarios but I will share with you what we did with our Fundemental students.  We kept it very simple.  They came in two at a time.  They had to wash their hands, introduce themselves and properly ID the pt.  We did some theraputic communication with them or we had some enviromental things askew ie foley on floor, no call bell, wrist restraint tied wrong etc. He c/o being SOB and elevating the bed made him feel better.  Only 2 things wrong per 2 student.  Before doing this I really wondered if it would be a waste of time but the feedback after they went to clinical was all positive.

Good luck and have some fun with it!

    Re: Pre-Hospital Scenarios

We are currently working on same after having some issues with interfacility vent transport. I have 2, but I've only used them once so far, and would like to make sure all the bugs are worked out before I post them.  Hopefully soon...

I have a couple burned to a CD that I used when I was teaching in a college level paramedic program.  Let me see if I can find them and I will post them for ya.

    Re: Pre-Hospital Scenarios

    Hey Michael,

I would be interested in seeing those too. I am currently working on some pre-hospital airway scenarios. Anyone intersted in discussing these things can email me.

    Re: Pre-Hospital Scenarios

Actually mine are more intra facility.  We had some issues with a local company transporting venilator dependant patients, so that's where our focus was.  One is an MI patient who becomes extubated in transport from our smaller facility to our larger,  the second is a COPD patient who develops a spontaneous pneumo being transported to a lont term vent facility.  This was our first simulation with this carrier and a lot of our focus was on appropriate hand off communication, assessment and reassessment of the patient as well as knowledge of their transport vent. Anyway, pehaps they'll be useful, at least as a starting point.

    Re: Pre-Hospital Scenarios

Pre-hospital scenarios are what I am looking for as well. Any scenarios will be of great help. No restrictions. Everything from inter-facility transport to ACLS and anything in between. Can anyone help?

I can e-mail what I have if you e-mail me: bratliff@baptistfirst.org.  The Upload function not working and the Guru is on vacation- lucky her! I'll upload as soon as it's fixed, in the meantime e-mail should work.
