Simman program freezes when going to debrief.

    Simman program freezes when going to debrief.

    I've read a lot of the posts about debrief errors but has anyone had the Laerdal Simman 3.3.1 software completely freeze when going to debrief after running a scenario. We purchased everything from Laerdal and was assured it would run great on the system they provided. I noticed it would freeze on Scenarios >6 minutes or if I didn't reboot the computer after running multiple scenarios in a row. I found a lot of add ware on the Dell and uninstalled a number of the programs that were using up resources. This helped significantly and didn't run into any issues untill about the 3rd 10 minutes scenario and then it froze again. According to the task monitor the program is not responding. I've let it be in this state for >45 minutes without it being resolved. Does anybody know why this is happening? I seems like its a resource issue in which the program doesn't dump ram after using it. Stopping and restarting the program doesn't seem to help much either only rebooting they system seems to clear up the issue for a little while.

    I have had some instructors run into the same problem and found one common point in many of these cases. Make sure the previous debriefing screen has been closed before running the next scenario. When we have had instructors forget to close the debrefing session and had it running in the background, we have found the Instructor Interface will freeze sometimes. If that is not the case, it is always a good idea to reinstall the SimMan software. When the program starts acting funny, thay often fixes it.

    We have also noticed that when we are running a set of scenario's for a long time, we tend to have some issues.  We have started to close the program for lunch so it has a break as well.  Otherwise I agree with David and would recommend reinstalling the program.
