    SimMan 3G connectivity

    Hello,

I was wondering how many of my fellow simulation users were having problems with SimMan 3G staying connected.  Laerdal has sent us a router and hopefully that address the problem.  Just wondering

There's a thread here: http://simulation.laerdal.com/forum/forums/thread/4192.aspx - it's about the Essential but the issues seem to be the same for both.

This is a known issue among Laerdal users and the router will fix that issue.  I believe that the issue is related to an overheating USB wifi adapter.  One of the sim centers in my city had this issue and Laerdal fixed it with the router and there has been no reoccurence since.

Call Tech support- they are supplying us with routers. Installed mine yesterday with little difficulty!

    Re: SimMan 3G connectivity

We have received our 3G upgrade and so far so good!  We ahve been able to keep him up and running for much longer periods of time. I had a little difficulty at the end of a very long day, but he may have gotten too hot, even though I turned him off at lunch. He has to have eclampsia 6 times tomorrow and Friday, so we'll see how he stands up to that! I may prop him on his side and air him out at lunch to see if that helps.

    Re: SimMan 3G connectivity

    Hi!

I'm having almost the same problem with SimMan staying connected. I'm using a new router (inside the simulator) but still having some issues with the connectivity. A pop-up window telling me that the Instructor PC can not connect to the Simulator and the Patient Monitor showing square signs...

But the strange part is that the simulator is breathing and broadcasting... No problems with the Wi-Fi network cards in both laptops but still showing square signs on the Patient Monitor and unable to get rid of the pop-up window...

After waiting 10 to 15 minutes, the pop-up window disappears and I restart the simulator and stars working as usual, no problem. So I don't know what to do... I connect the simulator with a cable during simulations until I can come up with a reasonable explanation...

Is there anybody out there having the same problem...

    Re: SimMan 3G connectivity

When this was happening on our SimMan Essentials, I found it was possible to interact with the patient monitor buttons even though there was what you are calling the pop-up window and square waveforms. So, you can hit the menu button, then "shutdown -> really shutdown" and exit out of the program without waiting for 10-15 minutes.

Ultimately, we had to send the unit in for repair. It was determined that the network card on the simulator's computer was bad and they replaced the motherboard.

Looking on the US Laerdal site it appears that they released a version 2.3.4 of the software today (A prior release did mention that there were "connectivity improvements"to the manikin software) so my other advice is to update the software on all your computers and complete a manikin update.

     Hope that helps
