• Using Non-Laerdal Computers with LLEAP

Question: I have a client that wants to use small form factor PCs for controlling their Laerdal simulators. In regard to the Vitals monitor application, has anyone used such computers with a touch monitor and have had problems? We want the same touch monitors to also work with Gaumard monitor software.Any guidance? What has ...

  • Re: Simulation Scenario Forums

Hello Ryan, I would recommend that you design the form for you to use. You will find it difficult to get any cooperation from your faculty, as they often confuse a case study with a scenario. That is not necessarily meant as a criticism. The concept of a scenario has never been taught to them, nor have they previously found good ...

  • Re: Electronic medical record

Lori, I'm not familiar with this particular system, but if it is for standard use, not simulation, you will be very frustrated. However, I'm often wrong, and would love to hear about your experience. Thank you!

  • Re: Electronic medical record

It has been about four years since this was posted. Since this time, I have learned a lot about what is needed to use an EMR/EHR in a simulation scenario. I've not been satisfied with anything thus far, even ignoring the cost. Please disregard my post here. What is discussed here may be ok, for a small program who doesn't ...

  • Re: Electronic medical record

Here is the primary problem (in my opinion) with using EHRs that are designed originally for patient use (Cerner, eClinicalWorks, etc.) or ones that are free - but still designed for real patient records: They just don't fit for use with simulation. The databases are designed to keep learner input for a particular virtual (or otherwise) ...

  • Re: Mobile Sim Lab

Charlei, The things needed for a mobile sim lab are basically the same as for a standard simulation lab. However, there are challenges associated with it. Before I proceed, with my recommendations, I need to know a little more information about what you currently are using. Which SimMan are you using? What, if any, are you using ...

  • Re: Help! Looking for orientation and scenarios

After many false starts with the programming of the self-paced simman orientation, I have finally completed a workable, tested scenario. We have put dozens of students through it. I recommend that four students participate in the orientation at a time. This is likely not a scenario that would be appropriate for SimMan 3g or ...
